Proof & Print

Every detail, personally proofed

What we promise on every job, what a named consultant means in practice, and the claims we will and won't make.

A hand marking a printed proof with a pen

Our standard is that a person checks every Proof & Print job against a written 12-point proof checklist before it prints, and nothing prints until you approve the proof. Proof & Print exists because most print problems are not printing problems. They are a wrong mobile number on 500 cards, a missing licence number on a signboard, a logo that looked fine on screen and soft at 1200 x 900mm. A person reading the proof carefully, with a list, catches most of them. That is the core of what we do.

What is the Proof & Print proof check?

Before any job prints, a person checks it against our written 12-point proof checklist. It covers the technical points (trim, bleed, resolution, fonts, colour values, fine text, finish layers, folds and binding) and the details that cost the most to get wrong (names and titles against your list, phone numbers and emails, sector details such as an ABN, licence number or professional standards scheme line, quantities and per-name splits, and stock, finish and delivery against the quote).

We fix what is technical and tell you what we changed. We flag what is yours to decide. We never silently change a name, a number or a word. And nothing prints until you approve the proof.

This is included in every price. It is not an add-on and it does not change with the size of the job.

What does a named consultant mean?

Your brief goes to a consultant, and that consultant's name is on every reply. In practice, it means:

  • One person from brief to delivery. The person who reads your brief writes your recommendation, sends your proof and confirms your delivery.
  • The same person next time. Your consultant keeps your approved artwork, stock choices, colour values and lists on file, so a reorder starts from what you approved last time.
  • A reply within one business day. A consultant replies to every brief within one business day, usually sooner.
  • Advice in plain words. Our price builder starts on the premium stock and finish. If you step down, your consultant explains the trade-off without pressure.
  • Your files kept private. Files you upload go to private storage and are seen only by your consultant.

What service commitments does Proof & Print make?

These are written policies, not marketing lines:

  1. A consultant replies to every brief within one business day.
  2. Every job is checked by a person against our written proof checklist before it prints.
  3. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.
  4. If a mistake is ours, we reprint at no cost.
  5. Prices are shown inc GST, with delivery to metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Canberra included. Perth, Hobart, Darwin and regional addresses are quoted at cost before you pay.

Turnaround times are targets. We publish the usual lead time for each product and your consultant confirms the date for your job before you pay.

What does Proof & Print claim?

We describe what we do, so you can check it:

  • A named consultant handles your job.
  • A person checks every proof against a written checklist.
  • Premium stocks and finishes are pre-selected, and every step-down is explained.
  • Prices are published, inc GST, with metro delivery included.
  • Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

What won't Proof & Print claim?

We won't call ourselves the biggest, the lowest priced or the top of anything. We won't publish testimonials or client logos until real clients have agreed to them in writing. We won't claim certifications we do not hold. We won't promise a same-day turnaround, and we won't promise installation: frames, stakes and installation are arranged through your consultant. And we won't tell you a proof check makes mistakes impossible. It makes them less likely, and if one gets through and it is ours, we reprint.

No. The proof check is a print check, not a legal, financial or editorial review. We check that sector details are present and consistent with what you supplied. Whether they meet the rules that apply to your agency, firm or project is for you to confirm. We flag; it is not legal advice.

Questions

Something else? All questions or ask your consultant.

Is the proof check done by software?

No. A person checks every job against our written 12-point list, reads the proof and decides what to fix and what to flag.

Will you correct spelling mistakes?

We flag them. We check names and titles against the list you supplied and point out anything that looks wrong, but we never silently change a name, a number or a word. The decision is yours.

Who is my consultant?

When you send a brief, it goes to the consultant who looks after your sector, and their name is on the reply. The same person handles your job from brief to delivery and your reorders after that.

What happens if you make a mistake?

If the mistake is ours, we reprint at no cost. See How it works for the full approach and our policies for the detail.

Why aren't you the lowest price?

Because the price includes a consultant, a person checking every proof, premium stock as the default and metro delivery. We publish our prices so you can compare them with what you get.
