Presentation folders

For most firms, choose the builder folder: 350gsm board with a matt laminate outside and a business-card slot. Soft-touch, foil and spot gloss folders are available as quoted work.

gsm is paper weight. A higher number is heavier and stiffer.

350gsm board, matt laminated outside. This is the folder in the builder. 350gsm is a stiff board that keeps a set of A4 pages flat and together. The matt laminate on the outside gives a quiet, low-glare surface that stands up to handling, and the inside is left unlaminated. A slot in the pocket holds a standard business card.

There is one finish in the builder by design: it is the configuration we would recommend for most firms, and it is priced so you can order without a quote.

If you want the folder to match a soft-touch business card, or carry a foil or spot gloss logo, those finishes are available as quoted work (see below). They add a tactile or reflective detail, and they need a little more time and a separate quote.

Every presentation folder is checked by a person against our written proof checklist. Folders have more moving parts than flat stationery, so we look closely at:

• Artwork set on the right template. The cover, spine, inside panels, pocket and card slot each sit in a fixed position on the flat sheet. We check your artwork against the dieline before it goes further.
• Trim size, 3mm bleed and safe area, including around the pocket and the card slot, where artwork near a cut can look off-centre.
• Folds and panel order. We check that the front cover, back cover and inside panels read the right way round when the folder is assembled.
• Image resolution at the printed size, especially for full-bleed photography on the cover.
• Colour space and brand colour values. A matt laminate softens colour slightly; we check your CMYK and Pantone references and tell you what to expect.
• Fonts embedded or outlined, and fine text and hairlines near folds.
• Contact details and sector details, such as ABN, licence numbers or a professional standards scheme line, where you would expect them. We flag gaps; it is not legal advice.

If your designer has not set up a folder before, artwork setup is $95 per design and we place your design on the template for you.

Our target for presentation folders is 8 to 10 business days after you approve the proof. Folders are printed flat, laminated, then cut and folded, so they take longer than cards and letterheads. If you are ordering a full stationery suite, your consultant times the run so everything arrives together.

Delivery to metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Canberra is included in every price. Perth, Hobart, Darwin and regional addresses are quoted at cost before you pay. Priority turnaround adds 25% (minimum $95) and dispatches one business day sooner where the product allows; your consultant confirms the date before you pay.

Soft-touch, foil and spot gloss folders are quoted by your consultant. So are runs above 5,000 and folders with a different pocket or capacity. Tell us what goes inside and how the folder is handed over, and we will specify the construction with you.
