Annual reports and booklets
Proof & Print prints saddle-stitched and square-spine annual reports, prospectuses and booklets, specified with you and priced to suit the run. Corporate communications teams, member organisations, firms and practices order them for annual reports, impact reports, capability statements, prospectuses and practice guides.
Quoted by your consultant
There is no price builder for this work. Each report is specified with your consultant and quoted in writing, inc GST and with metro delivery included, before anything prints. A person checks every file against our written proof checklist.
Why are annual reports quoted rather than priced online?
Annual reports and booklets are quoted in writing because each one has too many variables to price fairly in a builder.
A business card has a few variables. A report has many: trim size, page count, cover and text stocks, binding, finishes, quantity, and often a split between printed copies and copies held back. Each changes how the job is planned and what it costs. A builder would either hide that complexity or price it badly, so your consultant works through it with you and writes the specification down. You approve the specification and the price together.
How do I specify an annual report for print?
An annual report is specified by size, page count, binding, cover and text stocks, finishes, and quantity and versions.
Your consultant works through each of these with you and records the answer in your written specification.
Size. A4 portrait is the common format for annual reports. A smaller format, such as A5 or a custom size, can feel more like a book and suits a capability statement or a practice guide.
Page count. The number of pages, including the cover. Saddle-stitched books are built from folded sheets, so the page count works in multiples of four. Square-spine books are more flexible.
Binding.
- Saddle-stitched: folded sheets stapled through the spine. It opens flat, suits shorter documents and is typically quicker to produce.
- Square-spine (known in the trade as perfect binding): pages glued into a square spine with a wrapped cover. It suits longer reports, sits well on a shelf, and gives you a printed spine for the title and year.
Above a certain page count, saddle-stitching stops working well and a square spine becomes the practical choice. Your consultant will tell you where that line falls for your stock.
Stocks. A report usually has a heavier cover and a lighter text stock. Coated stocks hold photography and charts crisply; uncoated stocks have a natural, writable feel and suit text-led reports. gsm is paper weight; a higher number is heavier.
Finishes. Cover finishes such as a matt or soft-touch laminate, spot gloss or foil are specified with your consultant. Each adds a tactile or reflective detail, and some add time.
Quantity and versions. The number of copies, and whether some go to different addresses, are held back for later, or need an insert for a particular audience.
What do you need from me to quote an annual report?
To quote accurately, your consultant needs:
- The document type and audience, for example an annual report for members, or a capability book for tenders.
- Size and approximate page count. A rough number is fine at the start; we confirm it before quoting.
- Quantity, and any split between delivery addresses.
- The date you need copies in hand, and whether it is fixed, such as an AGM, a board meeting or a launch.
- Stock and finish preferences, or a previous report you liked. Our $25 sample box, credited on your first order, can help.
- Who approves the proof. Reports often need sign-off from several people. Tell us who has final approval so the proof goes to the right person.
- Files, when ready: a print-ready PDF, or your packaged design files. If your design is not yet final, we can quote from the specification and check files later.
What do we check on an annual report proof?

Every annual report is checked by a person against our written proof checklist. For reports and booklets, that includes:
- Page order, folds and binding. We check every page is present and in order, and that spreads cross the binding correctly.
- Trim size, 3mm bleed and safe area, including the inner margin near the spine, where text in a square-spine book can disappear into the binding.
- Spine width and spine text, calculated from the final page count and stock, for square-spine books.
- Image resolution at the printed size, for photography, charts and diagrams.
- Fonts embedded or outlined, and fine text, hairlines and rich black in tables and footnotes.
- Colour space and brand colour values, so the report matches your other print. Brand colour match is $95 per design.
- Sector details you would expect, such as ABN or ACN. We flag gaps; it is not legal or financial advice.
- Quantities, versions and delivery splits match the approved quote.
We check the print file, not the content. We do not proofread financial statements or verify figures; that remains with your team and your auditors.
How long does annual report printing take?
Your consultant confirms a date for your annual report in writing with the quote. The stages below are typical timelines, not fixed commitments.
- Brief to written quote: a consultant replies to every brief within one business day. A clear specification is usually quoted in that reply.
- Files to proof: typically 1 to 2 business days after we receive final files.
- Proof approval to delivery: typically 7 to 10 business days for a saddle-stitched report, and longer for square-spine books or special cover finishes.
If your date is fixed, tell your consultant first. We plan back from it and tell you plainly if the date is tight. Priority turnaround adds 25% (minimum $95) where the job allows, and your consultant confirms the date before you pay. A posted hard-copy proof is $75 and adds 2 to 3 business days.
Is delivery included with annual reports?
Yes. Delivery of annual reports and booklets to metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Canberra is included in every price. Perth, Hobart, Darwin and regional addresses are quoted at cost before you pay. Split delivery is $35 per additional metro address, which suits reports sent to several offices or straight to an AGM venue. Annual reports and booklets are scheduled with your consultant.
Beyond the builder
Everything on this page is specified and quoted by your consultant. If you are deciding between formats, a design-direction session is $195 for 60 minutes on stock, finish and layout, credited in full on an order over $1,500 placed within 60 days. If your design needs to be set to print specification, artwork setup is $95 per design.
For a shorter, folded document, a four-page or six-panel brochure may be enough and can be priced in the builder. To present a report in a pack, see presentation folders and C4 envelopes.

Questions
Something else? All questions or ask your consultant.
Why is there no price builder for annual reports?
A report's price depends on page count, size, stocks, binding, finishes and quantity, and small changes to any of them move the price. Your consultant specifies the job with you and confirms a written price before anything prints.
How quickly will I get a quote?
A consultant replies to every brief within one business day. For a report with a clear specification, that reply usually includes a written quote. If the specification still has open questions, your consultant asks them first.
What is the difference between saddle-stitched and square-spine binding?
Saddle-stitched books are folded sheets stapled through the spine, and suit shorter documents that need to open flat. Square-spine books have pages glued into a square spine with a wrapped cover, and suit longer reports that need a printed spine.
Can you print a small run for a board meeting?
Yes. Tell your consultant the quantity. Short runs and longer runs are specified differently, and your consultant recommends the approach that suits the number of copies and the date.
Can I see a printed proof before the run?
Every report gets a digital proof checked by a person. A posted hard-copy proof is $75 and adds 2 to 3 business days. For a long report, your consultant may recommend a printed and bound sample before the full run.
Can you deliver to several offices or to the AGM venue?
Yes. Metro delivery is included. Split delivery is $35 per additional metro address. Perth, Hobart, Darwin and regional addresses are quoted at cost before you pay.
